Considerations in your Educational Software Purchase
There are many different considerations in purchasing educational software. These factors are only guidelines, but make you evaluate the importance of what you choose.
These are not placed in any particular order, but be sure you think
about the answers to these carefully before buying your educational
software. Your learning success and software enjoyment will profit from
any research before buying.
- Price: Do you have the best price for the program? You can
search other websites to compare prices and shipping rates. Note
features as free shipping and no sales tax states.
- Will the user be interested? Discover interactive software that is self-paced that maybe feature an interactive storybook or cartoon character.
- Requirements: Is your computer compatible with the system
requirements? Good educational software site will list the system
requirements your computer needs in order to run the software
efficiently. Be sure to read this carefully.
- Age of user: Will your toddler
or teenager be running the software? Make sure the software is
age-appropriate. Sponge Bob might teach your child to type, but you'll
probably want a more advanced learn to type program!
- Availability: If possible, determine if the merchandise is
currently in stock. Research your shipping options. Are you able to
download the product immediately?
- Is the market for software programs by topic or by name? If you
know what software you are looking for, then you've likely already done
most of the work. But, if the only thing you know is that you are
looking for a way to learn to speak Spanish, then take the time to review the options of each of the many selections and techniques available.
- Returns: Will the retailer allow exchanges or returns? Is it hard
to make an exchange? If the program you bought does not meet your needs
or doesn't load on your system, you need to be able to exchange the
program for one you will enjoy.
- Does it fit the learning style of the user? Does your child learn
best by solving puzzles or taking quizzes or playing games? Look for
software programs that focus on their learning style.
Considering these factors will help ensure that you and your family
will make the choice that will optimize your learning experience and
the usefulness of your product.
